Snowydown flew over the forest looking for prey. The storm the previous night had not been too bad. The foliage that had fallen provided some ground cover for the forest creatures, making hunting a challenge. She looked to the north and saw some movement. Turning in that direction, she flew a little lower to the tree tops. As she drew closer, she realized that the animal that had caught her attention was a rabbit. As it moved through the brush, it lost it's cover. Taking full advantage of the open space, Snowydown struck. She folded her wings into her body and rocked through the air, making almost no sound at all. At the last possible moment, she stuck out her wings, stopping her and thrust out her talons. The rabbit sensed her too late. Before it could do more that hunch to run, she grabbed it, sinking her talons deep into it's body. The rabbit shuddered as it left the ground. Within seconds, it was dead. The rabbit was heavy, being bigger than she had thought, so she decided to head back to camp with just the one. She turned and headed back toward camp.

Firewing watched silently as Snowydown hunted the rabbit, nodding admiringly. She was definitely a good hunter. When she had the rabbit in her talons, the deputy showed himself, spreading his wings and taking flight fom the tree he had been perched in. As he reached her, he said in his distant, quiet voice, "I didn't even see that rabbit until you started to dive." He never spoke much, so this was a huge compliment coming from him. Hunting was not his specialty. Though he was good at it and knew a lot of good flying moves to help him, he wasn't as good as that. No, his skill was flying in itself. He could do backwards soars and flips, turn faster than you can blink, and go from perching in a branch to a full-speed flight in just seconds. But still he wasn't all that good at hunting. It confused him.

Snowydown was so startled by Firewing that she almost dropped her rabbit. It wasn't the fact that the deputy appeared out of no where, but the fact that that he had complimented her. "Firewing, I didn't see you. Thank you." She looked around, "Are you on a patrol?" She didn't see any other eagles.

((Can we say it's morning, or did you say it was some other time?))
Firewing chuckled. "How long have you known me? I always go for random flights around this time of day, Snowydown!" He shook his head, eyes full of amusement, and added, "No, I am not on a patrol. Looks like that storm wasn't too bad, though."

((It can be morning. The other clan was out checking in the morning so that fits well))
"You are right Firewing, the storm was not bad. I wonder though about some of the other clans. I hear horriable thunder and crashing late in the night." Her leggs sagged a little, the rabbit was starting to weigh her down. "I really must get this back to camp. It feels like it weighs a ton." She hated to cut the converastion short.

"I'll come with you," Firewing offered. "I'll be expected back at camp soon anyway." He cast another look over the damage, wondering how StormClan had fended. "Yes, I too fear what has happened to the other Clans. We fight them, but natural disasters such as these aren't fair, and no Clan should be wiped out or greatly damaged by a mere storm," he muttered, half to himself and half to Snowydown. "Can you get that rabbit, or do you want me to help you?" he added, noticing how weighed down she was.

She was glad for Firewing's offer, "I can get it, it might be ackward to share the weight of it." She shifted her grip. "Just don't fly to fast." She was almost envious of his flying skills. "Do you think they'll discuss the storm at the next gathering?" She wondered just how bad the storm had gotten.

"I don't see why they wouldn't," Firewingreplied gravely. "It may not have hit us hard, but it must have seriously effected at least one of the other Clans. If it is not spoken of at the next Gathering, it simply means everyone is trying to hide their weaknesses, or trying to forget the storm, when they actually need to remember it so they can be more aware next time." He began flying, not fast and not slow, a good pace for both of them. He was tired anyway. He'd been flying around for a long time, and was glad to be going back to camp for a rest.

Snowywing nodded to herself. That seemed a good answer. She matched her pace to Firewing's and followed him back to camp.
